Internet Shakespeare Editions

Internet Shakespeare Editions publishes high quality materials on Shakespeareʼs works, his plays in performance, and his life and times. Internet Shakespeare Editions provides both the inspiration and the publication platform for Digital Renaissance Editions. The Internet Shakespeare Editions is represented on the DRE Editorial Board by Michael Best (Coordinating Editor) and Janelle Jenstad (Associate Coordinating Editor), and on the DRE Advisory Board by Roberta Livingstone (Vice President and Creative Director).

University of Victoria

The University of Victoria, through several of its departments, provides generous infrastructure support (University Libraries, the Faculty of Humanities, and Computer and Systems Services), space for workstations and technical support (the Humanities Computing and Media Centre), course relief (Department of English and Faculty of Humanities), and development assistance (Industry Partnerships). All of this supports not only the Internet Shakespeare Editions, but also its sister projects, the Queenʼs Men Editions and Digital Renaissance Editions.

Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada

The Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada has provided four grants to Michael Best, which have allowed Internet Shakespeare Editions to hire a series of programmers and research assistants in the development of the site.

Australian Research Council

The Australian Research Council has provided a Discovery Project grant to Hugh Craig and Brett D. Hirsch (2012, DP120101955), and a Discovery Early Career Researcher Award to Brett D. Hirsch (2013, DE130100621), both of which have allowed Digital Renaissance Editions to hire programmers and research assistants, and to obtain high-resolution facsimile images.

University of Western Australia

The University of Western Australia, through its various faculties and institutes, has awarded a number of research grants (2011 Research Development Award) and fellowships (2015 IAS Distinguished Early Career Research Fellowship; 2010 University Postdoctoral Research Fellowship) to Brett D. Hirsch for projects related to the development of Digital Renaissance Editions.

Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford

The Bodleian Libraries, University of Oxford, has kindly entered into a pilot partnership with Digital Renaissance Editions, providing unprecedented access to their unique holdings of early modern drama. Pip Willcox (Curator of Digital Special Collections) represents the Bodleian Libraries on the DRE Editorial Board.

American Shakespeare Center

The American Shakespeare Center is partnering with Digital Renaissance Editions to produce editions that take advantage of the reconstructed Blackfriars theatre, to conduct workshops and performance-based research, and to provide wide access to the considerable archive of production materials. Sarah Enloe (Director of Education) and Kimberly Newton (Director of College Prep Programs) represent the American Shakespeare Center on the DRE Editorial (Performance) Board.

The Dolphinʼs Back

The Dolphinʼs Back is a professional theatre company dedicated to rescuing forgotten plays and playwrights and to bring them back into contemporary performance, challenging the existing canon and using the best of modern scholarship and research. The partnership with Digital Renaissance Editions will allow greater access to the companyʼs growing performance archive, opportunities to collaborate on future productions, and to conduct performance-based research.

Brave Spirits Theatre

Brave Spirits Theatre is dedicated to plays from the era of verse and violence which contrast the baseness of humanity with the elegance of poetry. By staging dark, visceral, intimate productions of Shakespeare and his contemporaries, we strive to tear down the perception of these plays as proper and intellectual and instead use them to explore the boundaries of acceptable human behavior. The partnership with Digital Renaissance Editions will allow greater access to the companyʼs growing performance archive, opportunities to collaborate on editions and future productions, and to conduct performance-based research.
